On running in Nashville…

Two years ago, on a warm summer day, I was running down Music Row in Nashville, shirtless (my Swedish skin always needs a tan).

I was feeling good, running fast.

As I approached a church on the corner, I saw a nice black Mercedes parked out front. The door to the Mercedes opened and out stepped a beautiful blonde.

My brain immediately thought, “I know her. I should say hi.” But something wasn’t exactly right, and the words escaped me, and so I just smiled, shirtless, as I ran by.

And she smiled at me.

Four steps or so later my brain turned back on and said, “Cecil. You don’t know her. That’s Dolly Parton.”

It’s also available on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, and more! (just search for Cecil Charles).

Produced by Dominic “Dom” Gibbs in Nashville, TN, this is the first of 12 songs to be released throughout 2019; I’ll be releasing one song per month. Continue reading “First single of 2019: “Without Wanting To”” »
