Well, if any of you have talked with me about music and songwriting, you’d know that I love the way songs evolve over time, until they grow into the thing they’re supposed to be.
It rarely happens that I’m ultimately happy with a song on the first go around. I’ll be excited about it, sure – and maybe even enamored with a the hook or melody.
I’ll then revisit the song often, playing it over and over for weeks or months at a time until the pieces fit into place.
“Find Me” happened differently, however.
Not that it won’t be subject to fine tuning, but it all flowed out of me in one day. That day was yesterday. The opening melody popped into my head as I was working on a different song, and I decided to run with it.
And 24 hours later, (and 20 takes later), I had this recording.
I’m excited about it and about what I got my voice to do. Remember how I said 20 takes? Well, my voice is both my favorite and my least favorite instrument at the same time. I’ve been growing into it for years and years, and I’m probably harder on myself than anyone else.
At the same time, after living in Nashville for 3 years, I know what amazing voices sound like and how high the bar is. My voice can be finicky, especially when nerves are involved, but last night it showed me something new, as did the muse.
Hope you like the song, and please leave a comment here or on YouTube and let me know what you think.

“Find Me” – by Cecil Charles
VERSE 1
We all will spend some days alone
these roots they didn’t take,
and snow’s been falling far too long
but should the winter break
and you hear this song
CHORUS
find me, my darling girl
all will be right with the world
find me, my darling girl
VERSE 2
I’m going to LA alone
I won’t forget your face
but I will push those thoughts away,
lest my worn body shake
to the bone, my love
CHORUS 2
find me my darling girl
come claim your place, in my world
find me my darling girl
BRIDGE
that teahouse in the rain
you loved me so that day
my number’s still the same
won’t you call me, won’t you call me?
don’t hide your heart away
for only you I play
CHORUS 3
find me, my darling girl
all will be right in the world
find me my darling girl
OUTRO
Don’t want to end my days alone.

This is a great song. A sweet love song. The falsetto you do is really cool – best of luck!
Thank you so much!! Can’t wait to release the studio version (probably in May or so). Really appreciate your feedback and support 🙂
