Well my friends, here it is. “California.”
A song about love, and the losing of it. Memories both wondrous and painful. Part of me wishes I didn’t have the material for this song, but then again, it’s perhaps one of the best things I’ve written, so I have to be at least somewhat objective about the balance of it all.

In all, I wouldn’t be here without the support of all of you – thank you so much!!
“California” – music and lyrics by Cecil Charles
VERSE 1
“When we were together on the coast
we had adventures, but what meant the most?
the way you laid your head upon my chest
my heart beat harder than
in any other moment of the rest.
PRE CHORUS
Ooh, these damn memories
CHORUS
you’re in my mind, whenever I’m
flying to california
the golden pines, your winding lines
running through california
I adored ya, still adore you
if you only knew
VERSE 2
Walking down the road among the pines
with only thoughts of fingers intertwined …
i know i’ve been a fool from time to time,
safe in knowing you once
labeled this old fool as “mine”
PRE CHORUS 2
Ooh, these damn memories
will they ever leave?
CHORUS
you’re in my mind, whenever I’m
flying to california
the golden pines, your winding lines
running through california
I adored ya, I adore you
only you
BRIDGE
and i love how you held me when I hit my head
now you hold it over me instead
baggage carousels and waterfalls and laughing when the doctor calls
and how you cried with me in bed…
and I wish that I’d never
flown home in December
but how could I know what was best?
but if I ever thought that you’d be gone,
I don’t know how I’d stay so long
put my foolish heart to the test”
